The South Coast Wine Train tour gets ready for the first departure of the season
Beyond the Vines Wine Tours and Rail Tours Australia are busy finalising last minute details for the beginning of the 2018 season of the ever popular South Coast Wine Train.
The South Coast Wine Train guests can choose to start their experience from the township of Mount Barker in the Adelaide Hills or be collected from the Central Bus Station or city hotel in Adelaide and be transferred via coach to the Adelaide Hills with informative commentary along the way.
On arrival at Mount Barker Railway Station, guests will step aboard the South Coast Wine Train and sit back and enjoy the train journey through the picturesque Adelaide Hills to the township of Strathalbyn where they are then taken via coach to the nearby Langhorne Creek Wine Region.
During the drive through the vines, guests experience a tour of Langhorne Creek on the way to our first winery where they are exposed to the history and icons of the region with a structured wine tasting at a local winery.
Lunch is the next stop where a scrumptious 2 course meal is enjoyed at a local restaurant.
The tour then continues onto the Currency Creek Wine Region, home to Finniss River Wines where guests enjoy a tasting at the recently opened cellar door within their picturesque country estate surrounded by vineyards, kangaroos and the Australian bush.
The ever popular Port of Goolwa is another opportunity to enjoy a glass of wine at 90 Mile Wines at the Wharf Barrel Shed, or partake in a beer or whisky or two at Steam Exchange Brewery and the Fluerieu Distillery.
The Goolwa Markets are another great attraction guests can browse through if wishing to have a change from the tastings of the day and can be discovered within the port area near to the other offerings.
Guests will have the option of relaxing a bit longer at Goolwa or be transferred along the coast to Victor Harbor via coach to once again board the South Coast Wine Train for the return journey along the coast and back to Mount Barker. On the way through the train will collect guests who had earlier decided to stay at Goolwa.
On departing Goolwa guests can enjoy a produce platter from the region whilst relaxing and enjoying the ever-changing scenery through the train window.
On arrival back at Mount Barker, Adelaide guests are shuttled via coach back to their Adelaide city drop off location or hotel.
The South Coast Wine Train travels down and through the South Coast of the Fleurieu Penisula.
